HI !

My name is Cynthia Kiesswetter and I am a visual artist from Zurich, Switzerland. In my artistic practice, I focus mainly on painting at the moment. I like to work intuitively and with free association.

I often start a work with leftover materials and let it develop through improvisation. I wouldn't call them accidents though, every decision is made with intention and thought. I am interested in bringing different textures to a work and often mix different mediums. For me, my paintings serve as documentation of my intuitive and associative process.

Animals and people often pique my interest. I prefer my works to be colorful and my aim is not to paint in an extremely realistic way, but to make the paintings feel alive. The themes of a work can sometimes emerge suddenly and develop during the process without being clear from the start. In my most recent paintings I challenge myself to push the boundaries of my intuition by exploring abstraction and moving away from figurative forms.

Painting and artistic creation have been very central to me since childhood and have accompanied me through all stages of my life. Now I have the opportunity to follow this passion further and have started my Fine Arts studies in Zurich in autumn 2022.
